Web 2.0 Examples

Web 2.0 has introduced the development and evolution of numerous web based communities. From hosted services and social networking sites to the many different wikis and blogs found all over the internet, the web is continuously developing.

Several examples include:

  • Flickr – www.flickr.com
    Flickr is an example of a hosted service website which allows for photo sharing. It can be used for personal online storage and sharing with contacts. A similar site would be YouTube (
    www.youtube.com) which acts as a host for people to upload videos and allows others to view.
  • Wikipedia – en.wikipedia.org
    Wikipedia is the perfect example of Web 2.0 technology creating an interaction between the website and the community. Wikipedia is an online information source which allows the community to collaborate and contribute to the content found on the website.
  • MySpace – www.myspace.com
    MySpace is basically a website for social networking. It allows people to communicate with one another using the web. MySpace is simple one of the few examples of the craze over social networks in the last few years. Other examples include Bebo (
    www.bebo.com) and Facebook (www.facebook.com
